Qualification Details

  • NQF Level: 4 (N4), 5 (N5), 6 (N6)
  • Duration: 18 months of theory (each level typically takes 6 months to complete) and another 18 months of workplace learning, where the student will complete a logbook under supervision. To complete the full diploma, it takes 36 months.
  • Accreditation: South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA)

Course Overview

The National Certificate: Public Management N4 – N6 is designed to equip students with essential skills and knowledge to manage and lead effectively within the public sector. These qualifications are accredited by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) and recognized by employers and educational institutions. The N4 to N6 series provides a comprehensive understanding of public management principles, preparing students for various roles in public administration.

Upon successful completion of the National Certificate: Public Management N4 – N6, a student will be able to:

Assessment and Evaluation

  • During the theory part (first 18 months), students will write 3 formative assessments:

1. Assignment

2. Test 1

3. Test 2

  • At the end of the semester, students will write a summative external examination from DHET.
  • Practical evaluations and workplace assessments will be conducted during the 18 months of workplace learning.

Mode of Delivery

SAAAC East London College primarily focuses on part-time students. Learning is delivered through online learning; however, exams are written at our accredited exam center.
